Hurricane the storm is forecast to become a uncommon Category 5 storm as it shifts toward the Caribbean island, delivering deadly sudden floods and rock falls.

The hurricane, which recorded wind speeds of up to 195 km/h as of 6:00 AM GMT, is presently veering north-west in the Caribbean region and is expected to hit the coast by early next week, as reported by hurricane specialists.

Alerts of blackouts and structural damage have been released as the hurricane generates up to thirty inches of precipitation and coastal flooding as high as 4m above ground. "Seek shelter now," residents have been urged.

This hurricane is the 13th hurricane in this year's Atlantic season, which normally finishes in November.

Highest-Level Cyclone Risk

A Category 5 cyclone is the most powerful category, with sustained winds of at least 157 miles per hour.

The nation's leader the statesman stated: "I understand that there are many Jamaicans who are concerned, who are deeply troubled, and rightfully so: you should be concerned.

"Yet the best way to handle anxiety and any nervousness and worry is to be prepared."

Locals are being advised to fortify their houses with sand barriers and plywood sheets, and to gather necessary supplies.

Regional Impact

Warnings are also in effect for regions of Haiti encompassing the main city, Port au Prince, the adjacent nation and eastern Cuba, where this storm is anticipated to bring comparable impacts by the middle portion of the coming week.

Rock slides currently triggered by the hurricane have resulted in two fatalities in the country, according to local authorities.

This weather system is predicted to cross Cuba by midweek before moving through the Antillas Mayores and emerging into the open ocean.

By the moment it reaches Cuba, it is predicted to have weakened to a category three storm.
